And The Cubs Won

Much fun was had on our first camping trip of the season. I was looking forward to geocaching, but when we arrived at Sam Parr, there were big signs that said no mushroom hunters were to be in the woods before 1 p.m. each day. We figured that was because of turkey hunting season, and figured further that WE shouldn’t be whacking the bush before 1 p.m. either.

Therefore, Saturday morning took us out and about. This is the way we search the New St. Peter Cemetery

The clue led us to Mary, and, even though we shook her down thoroughly

no cache was found. The Old St. Peter Cemetery was also a bust. We wondered if they were found by the caretaker and removed.

Better luck at the closed bridge just outside of town

And much better luck back at the park

I didn’t get to exchange anything out of the caches because I don’t have my bag o’toys ready for swapping. I’m thinking of making cards.

Decent hike while searching for the second of the two park caches we looked for. Ate some yummy food Saturday night, prepared by me: rice and burger and tomatoes cooked in the Dutch oven and butternut squash cooked in foil packs on the fire. I may turn into a decent camp cook one of these days.
