Sometimes Lightning Strikes
Poured today. More of same expected tomorrow.
High Jinks at the Assessor’s office today. Legal description work. Since our computerized mapping project has begun, the mapping company the county hired has been regularly sending us lists of properties on our books with poor or vague legal descriptions. So, one phase of my duties here is to go to the recorder’s office and find deeds with better legals for all this stuff. I actually love this. I get a real charge out FINALLY finding something like the original legal for the half acre plot where the two-hundred-year-old abandoned cemetery is after searching for HOURS and DAYS. (I’m being totally serious here. It’s possible I’m sick.)
Phase two of this project is me at my desk taking all these legals, writing them out, and changing our records in the computer, in the books and on the property record cards. That is what I was working on today. This can be a challenge. I’m not exactly sure why anyone ever thought it was a good idea to use things like “the oak tree with a circumference of 20” on the west side of Sugar Creek” as a reference point for plotting out a real estate legal description.
When I got home George wanted me to cut his hair. He hates his hair and he hates having his hair cut and he thought it would be okay to set the shaver on the longest setting and just shave it down all around. So I did. It actually looks okay. It’s a bit too short on top, but he wears a hat all the time, anyway.
