Semi-Happy Returns

After I sent off a rant about a Big Gripe to Carolyn last night and blogged here about a Smaller Gripe and shared with my husband lots of Petty Gripes from yesterday, I woke up this morning feeling a little like the Brat Baby of the Western World. I guess I just can’t take the heat, huh?

Good news though: autumn is coming! I drove by the pumpkin farm in my neighborhood today (on the way back from the bank) and the pumpkin plants are getting BIG. I’d think there’d be blooms soon.

Going to finish up the knitting of Charlotte this weekend. Got stalled reading novels. Two Silhouette Intimate Moments that were okay and two Agatha Christies that I had read before; one where I remembered the “trick” but couldn’t remember whodunit or why, and one where I remembered the “trick” and who, but not why. That’s sort of like reading new books, isn’t it?

I did watch a new movie last night, Cursed, which I bought this week on DVD. Very entertaining in a Goofy, B-Movie sort of way. From what I’ve read on the IMDb, it sounds like the original script might have been better. It seems the movie was rewritten and rewritten and rewritten to the point they had to throw out half of what they shot, along with all the work of six or seven actors, and hire a half dozen new actors to shoot the new stuff, then piece everything together. They also had an original scene that was filmed on a set designed to be a House of Wax that was cut out and then they later inserted a scene in a Planet-Hollywood-like nightclub that used almost all the same props.

Speaking of movies, I saw Batman Begins this week. I don’t care much for this newfangled notion of Super Heroes revealing their Secret Identities to every Fresh Faced Girl Next Door who bats her eyelashes at them. It certainly wasn’t like that in my day.
