So I Went To The Car....

The little storage bin in my car is full of stuff. I wouldn’t mind except now I can’t fit any more stuff into it.

Some of this stuff is useful to varying degrees: antibacterial hand lotion, unused napkins and straws left from meals eaten in my car, a lighter. But that plastic tortoiseshell thing is a chignon holder. How long has it been since I had enough hair for a chignon? Four years? Ditto on the ponytail holder. Also I have a pass for a parking lot in Minneapolis. I went to Minnesota in 2001. The last Stitches Midwest they had there before moving to Chicago. That parking lot is near the Metrodome: we saw the Twins play the Blue Jays. I can’t remember who won. And that silverish object is a vintage costume bracelet. It is broken. A while back, it seemed like every day I was running into Angie, the woman in town who has the vintage jewelry shop. One day I asked her if she would look at it and see if it could be fixed, and I brought it to town and promptly stopped running into her. I guess I just GO OVER TO THE SHOP, but that seems kind of difficult, doesn’t it?

I went out to my car this morning to get this from the back seat

That is most of the back of Jenny, from Rowan 37

worked up in the requisite Rowan DK Cotton, substitute color Diana, trimmed on the bottom with a chartreusey color that is discontinued and I can’t remember the name of. The top is going to be trimmed in that limey color that I also can’t remember the name of. Started this a while back, then got onto other things and I’m suddenly ready to work on it again.

On the way back from the car, I stopped and played with This Creature

The New Kitten. She’s about eight weeks old. She has no name. I’ve been trying to pick one. Today I like Helena. Helena, as everyone knows, was the daughter of Batman and Catwoman in the Alternate Universe Earth 2: she grew up to become The Huntress. As fun as that is, I realize Helena is not a great name for a cat. I thought it would be okay because we never call cats by their right names around here, anyway. The indoor cat is named Amelia, but I most often call her Miss Melly and He calls her Bob. So far I’ve been calling the new kitten Stupid Baby and He calls her Bob. (Don’t ask me.) We may end up going with something more conventional (Jinx or Lucky) but as long as we keep putting the food out she seems perfectly happy being call Stupid Baby (or Bob.)

You could carbon-date my car from some of the stuff I found last stress-induced-car-cleaning fit.

Love the Jenny! Very nice colour combination.

You could call the cat Kisa, it's Icelandic for "cat". I almost named my orange one that, but Kisa is the female vesion of cat, and the male version just didn't sound so good, so he's called Tangle Mint, Tangle for short. Cat #1 is called Quantum, so they are Quantum and Tangle Mint, aka quantum entanglement, a rather nifty concept in quantum physics. Yes, I am a true science geek!
