Hurricane Fringe
It is still raining but not so blowy now, here in east-central-southern Illinois where Katrina is a "Tropical Depression." Everyone is griping about our weather while simultaneously poring over the gory details of the real mess down in the Gulf.
In Gas Panic news, everybody started going nuts overnight Sunday (someone who works at Hucks and knows someone I know told her it was their busiest night ever.) All day yesterday, over and over, was the same refrain, "They* say gas is going to be over $3 by noon." Noon came and went and then when I was driving home, the gas prices were the same but people were Lined Up at the pumps. Six and Seven cars deep, backed up onto the street. This morning when I drove by the gas station, all the pump handles were covered because they had run out of gas. And the price went up about 30 cents at noon today.
Meanwhile, my Elann order came Friday! I started my Lord of the Rings hood this past weekend at the campsite, even though the Lagoon color was not AT ALL what I expected. It has no green in it, and it doesn't remind me of silvery water as much as it reminds me of polished stone. Either way, it is very suitable for the effect I wanted, and it is really growing on me. Niece Tabi didn't think much of it when she was here last night, though. But she only likes pink.
*"They talk a lot, don't they?"
