(Crochet) Hooking

I crocheted for years before I learned to knit. I loved it, but in those days there weren’t a lot of interesting patterns, which is one of the reasons I started to knit. In recent months, though, it seems like books and patterns for fun crochet have been just pouring out. I knew it was happening, but I have to admit my Fire for crochet didn’t really get lit up again* until I joined a crochet square swap in one of my Yahoo groups. Even then, I mainly joined because the person organizing the swap was having trouble getting people and I knew it wouldn’t take me long to make the requisite squares. And now, I’m crocheting like a crazy person. In the last three weeks, I’ve bought at least three crochet books, including Deb Stoller’s book. You know the one

And, from that book I’ve made this

And this

(The full pic looked bad.)

And I am currently working on the Violet Beauregard skirt pattern, only not in violet. Today, I ordered Candi Jensen’s Candy Babies and Candy Tots. Can’t wait for them to arrive.

*Speaking of all lit up again, in a different context of course, I was at Wal-Mart recently and observed that they are selling Buckcherry’s latest album. The one with Crazy B**** on it. And, naturally, it has been edited and sanitized for the Wal-Mart public. Honestly, I would be interested to meet the people buying this thing. I have so many questions to ask them.

I know what you mean. When I learned to crochet (early 80's), all the books were for knitting. When I learned to knit (1990), all of them were crochet.

I don't know if crochet will 'hook' me again or not. I don't have to look at most of my knitting, whereas I would have to concentrate on the crocheting. And I do so love being able to multi-task.
