A Shawl Saga
I've been rummaging through my stuff looking for the Shawl Pattern of my Dreams for the Tall Stacks Festival (which I keep calling Tall Oaks -- don't know why but if I do it here, well, I meant to say Tall Stacks.) Yesterday, I turned up some notes I had made long ago RE:This Shawl

I have been obsessed with this shawl since the moment I first saw it, on Stargate SG:1 episode 2.19 called "1969," where the Stargate malfunctions and sends the team back in time to 1969 where they hitch a ride with two hippie kids (Jenny and Michael) in a VW bus driving cross-country to go to Woodstock.
Long story short, I have never really figured out a way to construct a duplicate that made my heart sing as much as the original. Although, I got a lot closer when I found the pattern online for this

vintage 1962 shawl, the stitch pattern for which was very similar to Jenny's shawl. But, trying to find yarn still gave me FITS. In close-up shots of the shawl

you can see (sort of) that the yarn is all heather-y and shade-y and multi-tonal in addition to being striped in colors that I couldn't seem to match. So, when I was looking this over yesterday, it occurred to me that I own this

miscellaneous batch of Kureyon in one, two and three ball shots. They were purchased at different times for small projects that never came off, but, because, they are my favorite colors, they all co-ordinate.
I went ahead and worked a few rows to see and I am very pleased with it so far. I had to put it away, though, because I think if I try really hard I can finish my Traveler's Pocket for the Passage to India project by deadline tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
BTW, I joined the Sci Fi KAL group and I'm having a hard time picking a character to represent me. Any suggestions?

I think that you should use "FAITH" from Buffy.
Claudia Black was a perfect choice, twice the sci-fi :)
