Tidying Up
Attacked my hobby room today in an effort to unearth the Big Table. You've met the Big Table; it has been the backdrop for many a photo here. Unfortunately, only the corner of it has been showing of late. I'm planning some sewing now, though, and I need the whole surface. My KTC Lolita project is going to be sewed and I have a bunch of stuff to put together for the Kid's Room: blankets, curtains, etc. I also need a curtain for the hobby room, really, because the sun is shining through the blinds onto the yarn. I don't have the Good Wool in that alcove, but there is some cotton there that won't benefit from consistent sun exposure.
I was shocked during this project to discover just how many works in progress I have thrown around in here. I have always known I'm a better starter than a finisher (in most aspects of my life) but this is too, too sad. What's worse is that I have divided them into two equal piles of things I'm not going to finish and things I will. It's hard not to think of those Frogs-To-Be as Wasted Time. They are Learning Experiences, particularly in terms of The Right Yarn For The Job and This Is An Interesting Project But Is It Really An Item That I Want?
Speaking of all this stuff I have to do, I guess I am going to sit out KTC September. There were 8 books on the ballot for September and I promised myself that if a book was chosen that was not on my Must Read list, I was going to skip it. The Time Traveler's Wife sounds like an interesting book and I wouldn't mind reading it, but I don't want to miss October and November.
