Can You Believe It?

I have A Favorite Steven Seagal movie: Fire Down Below. There are many reasons why I love this movie, but one of the main reasons is the awesome soundtrack of country/roots music.

This movie has been playing on Cinemax this month, and I happened on the end of it while channel-surfing the other day. Even though I have it on DVD, I went ahead and stopped, then left it on while the credits rolled so I could listen to the songs (especially "Paradise" by John Prine.) This is how I learned something I did not know before: several of the original songs for this movie were co-written by STEVEN SEAGAL.

Today, I was blog surfing and found somebody who had posted the 2007 European Tour Schedule for Steven Seagal and his band, Thunderbox. This tour is to promote Mojo Priest, his second album. I listened to the clips for it on Amazon this morning. It's not bad. It's not John Prine, but it's not bad.

Steven Seagal really? I never knew? At least he doesn't have a bad French accent on every character.

'Round here, G and I have enjoyed discussing the many -- sometimes implausible -- ways that Van Damme movies have to find to explain his accent. One of our absolute favorites is Double Impact, where the "twins" are separated in infancy and one is "raised in France." The other is left in Hong Kong where he is RAISED BY FRENCH NUNS. Isn't that hilarious? Now, whenever a really nutty plot point occurs we like to say, "He was raised by French Nuns."
