Hey, Don't I Know You?
You may recall how much I admired the cover The Castle of Wolfenbach, the first book I read of the Northanger Horrid Novels.
It turns out, the lovely Madame de Loynes is a regular historical novel cover girl as seen at the Gallery of Reusable Cover Art.
But oh wait, There's More. It seem the publishing business is all about the cut and paste, eh?

I suspect that must be the highest form of flattery. . . cutting and pasting. Interesting!
(In another note: for a while, there were a whole host of books featuring calves and feet. . . Trending in book covers?)
I have to tell you that I love the what movie am I. I have guess right everytime since the Mummy.
That's pretty interesting, and the ultimate in recycling:)! I,too, love What Movie Am I? I just squeaked out the right answer this time!!

Thanks, guys!
Ragged, I got those links from the Reading the Past blog (the link is in my sidebar) and she has mentioned often the odd "Headless Woman" phenomenon in book covers. Once you're aware of it, you see it all the time. It is funny how these trends appear. I wonder if there is some deep psychological significance?
I blanked out on Romeo and Juliet - and I could have kicked myself!!
I would guess the woman stays headless because it frees the mind to imagine the heroine as looking however anyone wants her to. I suppose women can imagine their own head on the body - and having their bodice ripped off by a dashing hero!!
