Oh Christmas Tree

This is the first year for this tree at my house, though it lived for many years at my MIL's house. She gave it me when she bought a new one. I did not realize until I opened the box a week ago that this tree -- in keeping with its vintage-ness -- is all separate pieces. All the branches have to be put in individually. This is why I opened it a week ago and finished it today. Also, only one of my strands of lights worked and I had to go buy more. That set me back. I don't know how well the ornaments show up in this image but there are a LOT of knitting motifs, esp. mittens, and a LOT a lot of SciFi ornaments, esp. Star Trek.

I love my tree!

Amelia likes it, too:

Scenes From My Little Garden

"There's only two things that money can't buy, and that's true love and home-grown tomatoes...."

Of all my herbs, the lavender has done the best...I think because this old water can has lots of good drainage:

I love this guy:

This is actually in the house (obviously) but I took a pic because I think it's wonderful. My bonsai palm tree:

Spring Is For Babies!

Goose babies, in particular. Of course, their proper name is Goslings.

We've had two families on our pond for the last three days: one with about five and one with about seven. They didn't hatch here, because we didn't have a pair nest here this year (the first time in several years,) so they must have walked from the neighbors -- across a corn field half-mile away. About four years ago, the neighbors turned one of their damper fields (right by the creek) into a big Water Fowl Preserve Swamp Area (official name -- I swear,) and that has to be where they hatched.

I finally got close enough this morning to get some decent photos. They were all on the bank before they realized I was stalking them, then they took to the water.
